Sunday Worship is held each Sunday morning from 10:30 to 12:00. The service is devoted to worshipping the Lord and listening to teaching from His Word, the Bible.
During the first part of this service, we remember and worship Christ by observing the Lord's Supper (also referred to as "the Breaking of Bread"). Before going to the Cross to die for our sins, Jesus gathered His closest followers together and asked them to "Do this in remembrance of Me" (Luke 22:19, 1 Corinthians 11:24-25). He explained that the bread represents His body and the cup His blood "poured out for the forgiveness of sins" (Matthew 26:26-28).
Because the act of remembering Christ is so important to Christ, it is a priority for us. This is why we remember and worship Him each week and place it front and center. If you have trusted Christ as your Savior, we welcome you to partake of the bread and the cup (we offer a choice of grape juice or wine). If you are not a believer yet, we request that you do not partake. It is our hope that one day you will be able to fully enter into this part of the service.
During this service, our worship teams lead us in Christ-centered congregational singing using a variety of musical styles. Joyfully singing praises to the Lord is one of our great privileges because of who He is and what He has done for us. We encourage you to engage in singing as an act of worship to the Lord.
The last thirty-five minutes of the service are devoted to the careful teaching of God's Word. We deeply desire that the Bible be central in all we do at Westside. It is our only authority, and it reveals the very heart and will of God. We strive to interpret and preach the Scriptures accurately and relevantly. Our chosen purpose for our preaching is "to engage hearts and minds with the clarity of the text of God’s Word so that lives are changed.” See the article How to Listen to Sermons.
Recordings of the weekly messages are available here. Audio CDs are available upon request at the sound booth in the back of the auditorium. Closed-circuit Spanish translation and special earphones for the hearing impaired are available. Just ask for earphones at the sound booth.
Sunday School for children and a nursery for infants and toddlers are offered at the same time as Sunday Worship. Parents can deliver their children to Sunday School at 10:30 or may choose to have their children sit with them until the conclusion of the Lord's Supper at which time they will be dismissed to their Sunday School classes.
After the service our elders/pastors are always available to pray for you, offer spiritual counsel, or answer any questions you might have.
