The local church is a very special gift from Christ because it's a place where his people can find spiritual help and encouragement instead of trying to go it alone.
But it's not enough to just be on the receiving end of blessing. God has given us the wonderful privilege of blessing others by sacrificially serving them. "Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unproductive." (Titus 3:14 NASB) As each person uses their individual gift, others are helped and encouraged and Christ is honored.
