What to Expect

What can I expect when I arrive?

You can park in one of our two parking lots. One is directly in front of the church and a larger one is across the intersection of 9th and Walnut. There are special reserved spots for seniors and the disabled right next to the building. Street parking is also available.

When you enter the building, we encourage you stop at the special welcome table located immediately on your left when you enter the front doors. We'll be glad to answer your questions and help you find your way around. Come early and enjoy a free cup of coffee in the Fireside Room with other people who call Westside home. You'll receive a warm welcome!

What happens during the service?

Our Sunday morning worship service begins at 10:30 and lasts about 75 minutes. During this service, we remember and worship Christ by observing the Lord's Supper (also referred to as "the Breaking of Bread" or "Communion"). Before going to the Cross to die for our sins, Jesus gathered His closest followers together and asked them to "Do this in remembrance of Me" (Luke 22:191 Corinthians 11:24-25). He explained that the bread represents His body and the cup His blood "poured out for the forgiveness of sins" (Matthew 26:26-28)Because the act of remembering Christ is so important to Christ, it is a priority for us. If you have trusted Christ as your Savior, we welcome you to partake of the bread and the cup. We provide pre-filled communion cups on the table near the entrance of the auditorium.

During this service, our worship team leads us in joyful, Christ-centered congregational singing. The last half hour is devoted to the careful teaching of God's Word. Watch some of our online sermons to get an idea of what to expect and what’s important to us. Closed-circuit Spanish translation is provided as well as special headsets for the hearing impaired.

What do you have for my kids?

Sunday School classes are provided 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM for children ages four through 6th grade. Parents can drop their kids off at Sunday School as early as 10:15. Our goal is to clearly communicate God's Word and plan of salvation to each child and to teach biblical principles for daily living. A safe and well-equipped nursery staffed by trained and caring volunteers is also available for infants and toddlers up through age 3 during this service. We make every effort to provide a safe and secure environment for children. We have implemented a strict Child Abuse Risk Reduction (CARR) policy in all of our children's programs, including the nursery.
