Ways to Reach Out During the Christmas Season

03Dec

The Christmas season is an excellent time to reach out to others and display the love of Christ. Please take time to consider these five practical ideas.

1. BAKE A SPECIAL TREAT FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS OR CO-WORKERS: Make Christmas cookies and other baked goods and take them to your neighbors or co-workers. This will help you build relationships with them and provide openings to share the gospel.

2. GIVE OUT CHRISTMAS CARDS: Give Christmas cards to your mail carrier, trash collector, hairdresser, barber, and other people who provide services to you and your family. Consider including a small gift or a gospel booklet. One good booklet is “How Good is Good Enough” by Andy Stanley (available through Amazon or CBD).

3.  HOST A CHRISTMAS PARTY AND INVITE YOUR NEIGHBORS:  Invite several neighbor families for a meal or dessert at your house. You could facilitate some meaningful conversation around questions like, “What’s your favorite Christmas memory?”

4. GO CHRISTMAS CAROLING: Doing this in your neighborhood or at a retirement or assisted living facility can be a simple way to introduce yourselves and share the joy and true meaning of Christmas.

5. PROVIDE “CUPS OF COLD WATER" TO THE HOMELESS: Be a channel of the love of Christ by helping meet some of the practical needs of the homeless in the area. Partner with “Dinner and A Movie,” a local evangelical ministry that ministers to those trapped in the cycle of homelessness and abuse and attempts to build relationships and share the gospel with them. These are just a few ideas for reaching out to people in Jesus’ Name during the Christmas season. Let's take bold steps in dependance on God and trust him to use us in lives to celebrate Jesus.
